In Aurora, nurturing a high quality of life for residents includes fostering a love of the arts. Right in the Town Hall on the third floor, the Skylight Gallery is a fabulous open space topped by a dramatic skylight – an area devoted to exhibitions of work by local and area painters and sculptors. Backboards and track lighting are set up to display artwork in a striking setting, and admission to this ever-changing art show is free.
Most of the artists are from York Region, and occasionally beyond. The goal is to expose residents to the work of Canadian artists in a unique, convenient setting. The featured artist can hold a reception in the Skylight Gallery during his/her chosen month if they'd like.
