The Flipside Skateboard Park is a mobile park designed for drop-in use by skateboarders, in-line skaters, BMX bikers and scooters. It is a system that is fully contained within a customized, enclosed trailer and sets up at a number of park facilities in just 15 to 20 minutes. Flipside ramps are constructed out of steel, plastic and wood and features a Quarterpipe, a Flatbank, a Flybox, a Grind Box, 2 Grind Rails and a consistent incline Ramp.
In addition to youth drop-ins, Flipside may be used as a youth component in other special events such as Canada Day, Street Festival and Concerts in the Park.
Fleury Park and Lambert Willson Park are two current sites of the Flipside Skateboard Park. Flipside is supervised by two trained staff. Pre-registered instructional skateboard and BMX clinics are held once a month. The clinics cover terminology, maintenance, safety skills, stopping, turning and tricks.
Hickson Park is designed to facilitate permanent skateboard and BMX activities. Concrete skate board runs include numerous ramps, transitions, stairs, ledges and rails. A separate BMX loop is designed in a grassed area and consists of a series of jumps, log steps, log and plank bridges, a rock and log circuit and a rock and log spider. There is a soft surface course (earth and mulch) geared for beginners and advanced bikers alike. Please note that the BMX and Skateboard facilities in Hickson Park are not be supervised by Town staff.
The Flipside Skateboard Park is back for another season! Drop on by to style your moves, learn new tricks and hang with your friends.
