Planning & Development Services

The Town of Aurora Official Plan is prepared and administered by the Planning Department. This Official Plan is a policy document adopted by Council that identifies a vision for the long term land use of the Town. In addition to the Official Plan the Planning Department also prepares Secondary Plans which plan for the development of specific areas within the Town.

The Town of Aurora Comprehensive Zoning By-law is prepared by the Planning Department. This by-law implements the Official Plan policies and identifies permitted uses for each property within the Town along with restrictions and siting and building specifications.

The Planning Department deals with applications for Rezonings, Official Plan Amendments, Plans of Subdivision/Condominium and Site Plan Agreements. The Planning Department also prepares statistical information such as population counts and projections, inventories of industrial and commercial properties and updates development application information.

The Committee of Adjustment considers the merits of applications for land severances and minor variances to land, buildings or structures, in accordance with the Planning Act
